SEMBLANZA DE UNA FAMILIA

"Una Familia en el Arte " 2001
Siempre tuve un gran amor por el arte y, con el apoyo de mis papás, le dedique mis estudios desde pequeña. Mis maestros más queridos fueron Matilde Orellana y José Bardasano.
Nuestra familia es originaria de la Ciudad de México. En 1955 contraje matrimonio con José Salazar. El no era pintor pero amaba las expresiones artísticas, especialmente las pre-colombianas. Juntos asistimos a conferencias y coleccionábamos objetos interesantes del arte popular.
Tuvimos siete hijos: Pepe, Martita, Norma, Ana Laura, Mónica, Patricia y Lydia.
Debido a que mi esposo desde joven tuvo una afección en el corazón, yo me dediqué constantemente a la pintura como profesional. Considero que el trabajo de una esposa no solamente debe de existir de acuerdo a sus capacidades sino también a la colaboración que ella debe asumir para el bienestar de su familia. Es el amor y no las leyes lo que lleva a la mujer a realizar un actividad aparte de la de su hogar, al cual nunca debe descuidar.
Los miembros de una familia son como las pajitas de un nido. Su cariño demostrado con alegría y apoyo hacen del lugar donde viven algo cálido y acogedor. Cuando el arte es uno de los motivos de unión, el hogar se convierte en un gran taller donde cada uno muestra su trabajo para dar y recibir opiniones y crítica constructiva. En nuestro hogar siempre han existido lugares destinados a la creatividad. Ahí se dibuja, recorta, modela, construye, etc. Ese cuarto/taller deberá tener la luz adecuada; un sitio para guardar los materiales; el piso y paredes fáciles de limpiar así como libros que traten de arte.
Desde que mis hijos eran pequeños, no han existido rivalidades ni competencias artísticas porque cada uno sigue su propio camino y en sus expresiones artísticas no hay una escuela dominante ni un estilo impuesto.
Para que haya armonía en las relaciones de la familia se debe luchar para vivir cualidades que den paz y alegría al ambiente. Podría resumir que se busca: espíritu de servicio; trato amable y acogedor; evitar comparaciones entre sus miembros; cultura; libertad; cariño y respeto; optimismo y , sobretodo, valores profundos.
Doy gracias a Dios por mi familia y la sensibilidad que nos dio por el arte que es una de las manifestaciones de su presencia en el trabajo , en la belleza profunda y en la búsqueda de la verdad.

A FAMILY'S PORTRAIT
I have always felt a great love
for art and, with my parents support, I opted for this road since I was little.
My most beloved and influential teachers were Matilde Orellana and José Bardasano.
Our family lives in Mexico City. In 1955 I married José Salazar. He was not a painter but still loved all pictoric expressions, specially pre-columbine. Together we attended art conferences and collected interesting, popular art objects.
We had seven children: Pepe, Martita, Norma, Ana Laura, Mónica, Patricia y Lydia.
Since my husband suffered from heart trouble most of his life, I decided to dedicate myself to painting. I believe a wife's activities must not only be related to her abilities but also to the part she must play in her family's well being. It must be love and not laws which guide a woman's work asides from her home, which she must never neglect.
A family's members are like straw to a bird's nest. Their love, shown through happiness and support help make their home something warm and cozy. When art becomes another reason for them being together, their home becomes a great work place where everyone shares their work in order to give and receive constructive criticism. In our home there have always existed rooms destined for creativity. In there: drawing, cutting, modeling, construction, occur. These sites must always have the right illumination, storage area and the walls / floor must be easy to clean; art books must also be available.
From the time my children were young, there have never existed rivalries or artistic competitions because each and everyone follows their own way. In their artistic expression there is not a dominant school or an imposed style.
For harmony to exist within a family, an effort must be made to live those values which bring peace and happiness: a spirit of service; a kind and gentle touch; avoid comparisons between the members of the family; culture; liberty; love and respect; optimism and, above all, deep values.
I thank God for my family and for giving us a sensibility for art which manifests his presence in our work, in true beauty and in the search for truth.
